I am Woman or are you?

First and foremost, this is my opinion and own thoughts. I have stuggeled with writing about this subject in fear of causing any type of animosity.  Feminism initially started off as a good thing. A woman with equal ability should have the same opportunities as a man.  She shouldn't be given a leg up or down because of her gender - it should all be based on ability. I feel now it has morphed into something less than noble. Heavenly Father loves his daughters as much as His sons. I feel His heart is greatly troubled and saddened , at the way His daughters treat His sons. We as women, should be edifying them, esteeming them, respecting them while allowing them to do the same for us. Today young women scoff at dignity and modesty as just stupid, prudish, sexist notions. They cohabitate without a marital commitment, yet expect the love and respect, fidelity and loyalty to exist without the spoken vows, only to be disappointed, hurt, and generally confused. The women’s revolution did not raise any consciousness worth elevating, it mostly diminished a woman’s sense of herself as special, minimized her value in the minds of men,  gave up the blessing of nurturing their own children,  created perpetually unhappy, angry, nasty wives, and made it very difficult for “nice girls” to be respected and cherished. Both men and women are responsible for their thoughts and actions, and therefore are contingent upon the consequences that follow. A woman may choose to wear revealing clothing, but she cannot decide which consequences, regardless of the desirability level of such consequences, will follow. Men like breasts people, and no amount of propaganda is ever change that biological fact. In my opinion, hard core feminist must be miserable people, because their ideas of liberation and empowerment are not in alignment to God's Law, which is absolute. We owe EVERYTHING to Him. Our bodies are in image of Him, and all he asks is to respect it and use it correctly , not put it on display for the sake of empowerment and false sexuality. Woman objectify themselves and men are just along for the ride. Males are generally out of control every which way until they fall in love and take on the obligations and responsibilities of a man committed to a woman and family. Honestly I could go on and on, I'm not changing anybody's mind with my rant. To refuse any anger I might have in sighted, just stare at the picture below.

If you like sleep, don't have babies...

Let me just talk about an average day here at home. It starts about 2 in the morning with Jethro waking up for a feeding and usually peeing through his diaper, and sometimes pooing. I get him cleaned up, his diaper and pamjams changed. Now sometimes he will go back to sleep no problem, other nights we have to walk around a bit to get him sleepy again. 2 hours later we repeat the process, and 2 hours after that as well. then he is usually up for good around 8 or 9. I feed him again, this time with some cereal mixed up with milk and banana. I put him down for some tummy time and scramble around the house getting as much done as possible before he starts to get fussy, which doesn't take long, about 20 to 40 min. I then pick the movies that I am going to watch for the day ( I am sure you  are wondering where is Jason? well Jason is working 2 jobs and finishing up his teaching credentials, so I really don't see him while the sun is out.). Once he starts to get fussy, we plop in the rocking chair and just rock because he just wants to be held. So I watch a movie while he just plays with his toys in my lap. 11 am rolls around and I feed him and put him in his crib for his first nap. Now, one of two things will happen; he will cry for a little bit then fall asleep for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or he will cry and scream for an hour then only sleep for about 20 min. Sadly, it is usually the latter. I go get him and he gives me the biggest smile because he knows that he got his way, the little stinker. I feed him again and put him down for some play time were he just stares at me waiting to be entertained. We play for a little bit, then he stars to get fussy so back to the rocking chair we go. I need to get some more movies. I try to put him down for a nap at 1 pm, but what ends up happening for the rest of the day is he'll just cat nap. 20 min here, 30 min there, lots of crying lots of rocking and eating, which equals no rest for mommy. I try to make dinner for Jason because  I know that he will be starving when he gets home. Sometimes he just gets cereal. When Jason gets home he will take Jethro so I can shower and get ready for bed. Then I give Jethro some cereal mixed with milk and sweet potato, give him a nice warm bath and then we rock ourselves to blissful sleep. Then the cycle starts all over again. I hope this entry doesn't sound negative, because I really don't mind my tiring days. His tension span is getting longer so that helps with tummy time and getting things done around the house. If I am really tired we just nap together snuggled on the bed. It also helps that he is adorable.

Shots and Solids

Jehtro had his 4 month check-up today. The doctor said that he is progressing well and was amazed at how much hair he has. My baby had his second set of shots, which he did not care for at all. He weighs 15lb now and is 26in long. The doctor asked about his feeding and I told him he still eats pretty much every 2 hour still. He recommended that I start introducing some solids in his diet and start with a rice cereal and mild fruit purees. This led to my first experience in the baby food isle. Holy cow! the food that is available for babies now a days makes me laugh! there is every thing from kale, apple, and broccoli puree to quinoa and carrot starter yogurt. I mean, I understand that it is important to give a wide variety of food to your baby, its just funny that it is readily available in shelf stable form. I stuck with the classics, fortified rice cereal and bananas. When we got home, I was anxious to see how he would take starting solid foods. I pumped about 5 oz of milk and measured everything out, and got him settled to eat. He didn't really like the spoon to much and he was starting to get frustrated, so dumped the rice cereal into the rest of the milk and gave it to him in bottle form. It was one of the first times that he did not spit-up afterward! A little later I wanted to try out the bananas. Same situation with the spoon, but I could tell that he liked the banana. So I went and got his oral dispenser for medicine and eat half a jar of the bananas! I think all in all the fist day of solids went well. I am going to give another bottle with cereal in it tonight before I put him down, and HOPEFULLY, he will sleep longer that 3 hours at a time.

4 year anniversary!

Today marks 4 years that Jason and I have been married! It makes me feel a little old sometimes because it seems like time cannot possibly go by so quickly. Jason has a Cross-Country meet tonight so he is taking me out tomorrow. Being of the frugal persuasion, we don't go all out on gifts. I got him a Star Wars card with a hand buzzer, that when pressed a Yoda quote sounds. He is getting me customized ear plugs for walking and running and then dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant, with Jehtro of course.

Jason and I met on a blind date set up by my roommate. We went out Salsa dancing( I love dancing, Jason not so much) and we have been together ever since. We were married in the San Diego temple on August 21, 2009. We celebrated that night with family and friends with a large dinner. The following day, we had a ring ceremony followed with a reception.

We had a nice little Honeymoon at Disneyland
Not much has happened in the 4 years we have been married. We currently reside in Provo, Ut while Jason is finishing up his teaching certification. Our biggest achievement is our little baby boy!
                            This his morning hair!

Living The Charmed Life, I think...

I never thought that I would join the blogging movement. Even more unexpected, typing my first blog one- handed. My other hand is currently suspending objects over the face of my 4 month old to keep him entertained. Jethro or Jet, should be taking his nap right now, but somehow I managed to give birth to an insomniac. My child sleeps, what feels like, a grand total of 12 minutes a day sometimes. Granted, that is an exaggeration, but I thought babies were supposed to like sleep. Oh well, I have become accustomed to surviving off of 3 or 4 hours of sleep a day and it is impossible to be mad at him, all he has to do is give me his great big gummy smile and sleep does not seem that important.
But were are my manners, my name is Kelli Rae Baker, maiden name Davis. I was born and raised in Southern California in the little town called Lake Elsinore. I am 26 years of age, the latter 4 being married to the dashingly handsome Jason Baker. As previously noted we are the proud, though tired, parents of one Jehtro Alexander Baker, born on April 16, 2013. I am a homemaker, well when I have energy anyways. I'm sad to say on some nights we have cereal for dinner. That's all for today( my hand is getting tired)  but my goal is to blog at least five days a week that will cover books, recipes, marriage and family and just the day to day things of the adventure called life!
